The solution uses a SQL Agent Job that executes a SSIS package to truncate the data, then insert the data on the publisher to the subscriber. The main advantage was to reduce the stress caused by the distribution agents for improved server performance.

  • During my seven-month stay I was able to deliver vast improvements to the system’s primary and most heavily utilized stored procedure; “FlatSiteItemRecipes_REBUILD”. The teams corroborating SQL team in Praque had already worked on this 2500-line procedure for two years and had the execution time down to 15 minutes. However, this was still insufficient. I was given the procedure in late January, and was able to bring the execution time down to 2 minutes by EOM February.
  • As I was working to make the procedure run faster, I identified three unrelated, but critical issues where SQL Server was being allowed to generate random results across 5% of several key calculated fields. The team had been aware this was occurring, but had been unable to isolate the problem. I set up a demonstration to show exactly where and how this was occurring, and then I proposed a minimally invasive correction. My solution was unanimously adopted.
